The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Chad Campbell and Steve Montenegro.


The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way.

Hunter gets the takedown into side control.

The referee asks Hunter politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Hunter prefers to stall for the moment though.
Banner tries to get back to half guard but can't.
You can see the frustration on Banner's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Banner is trying to improve his position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hunter is looking to take a break and control but Banner is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Banner struggling a bit here.
Banner has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it.

A lull in the action here as Hunter stalls from top position.

Banner is trying to control Hunter's posture but Hunter avoids it.
Hunter in side control, just content to control the action for now.

Hunter seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Banner for as long as he can get away with.
Hunter wants to control but Banner is keeping him busy.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hunter's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Banner is looking to regain half guard here but Hunter keeps moving and retains side control.

Still in half guard, Hunter seems content to control.
Hunter continues to stall.
Banner preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.

Hunter is trying to control. Banner wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Banner is looking for a sweep. Hunter is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Banner trying to hold on to Hunter's head to control him but Hunter postures up.
Hunter takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Banner is positioning himself well to prevent Hunter advancing to mount.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Banner wants to get back to full guard.

Banner keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.
Hunter is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.
Hunter controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Banner seems keen to control Hunter's posture.

Banner looking to control.

Hunter wants to control from the top but Banner keeps moving.
Hunter preventing the sweep.
Hunter passes into half guard.
Hunter is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Banner controlling the leg, holding on to half guard.

Hunter wants to take a breather but Banner is having none of it.
Well, if Hunter is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Banner makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Banner.

And that's the end of the fight!
Hunter takes the fight on points by 4 to 0.
During a confident post fight interview, Saul Hunter thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
