This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the light heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Amsterdam, with a TWGC record of 8 wins and 4 losses; Steve Fish! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 31 wins and 21 losses; Satan Blue! The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, David Schapiro and Alyssa Summers.
The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way. Blue will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Fish attempts a counter takedown but Blue avoids it well and moves away. Blue looks for a takedown but Fish sprawls well.
Fish decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Fish (2) vs (0) Blue Blue is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Fish is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Fish pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Blue is keeping the position for now. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Our spies down at at Freddy\'s Grappling Institute inform us that Blue has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off? Fish trying to control the position from guard on top but Blue is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Fish looking to pass the guard. Blue has control of Fish's left arm, preventing Fish from doing any damage.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Blue not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Blue is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Score +2 for sweep to guard / half guard: Fish (2) vs (2) Blue Blue not doing much here.

 That's three minutes gone in the round. Blue trying to control the position but Fish is working away. Blue is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Fish will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already. Fish sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. Blue is controlling the pace.

 That's five minutes gone in the round. Blue trying to pass the guard but Fish defending well. Fish wants to get back to full guard. Blue perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Fish manages to get to full guard.
 That's six minutes gone in the round. Blue tries to free his leg and advance position but Fish is retaining full guard. Blue preventing the sweep. Fish bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Blue's guard. Score +2 for sweep to guard / half guard: Fish (4) vs (5) Blue We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Blue has his hands on Fish's head, controlling the position.
 That's seven minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Fish trying to control but Blue is working from the bottom. Blue is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Fish pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Blue is keeping the position for now. Blue controlling from the full mount. Blue can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Fish is looking to escape. Fish wants to control but Blue is having none of it.
 That's nine minutes gone in the round. Fish bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! Score +2 for sweep to guard / half guard: Fish (6) vs (9) Blue Blue pulls Fish in close to his closed guard and prevents Fish from doing any damage or advancing position. Blue lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. Score +2 for sweep to guard / half guard: Fish (6) vs (11) Blue
 That's ten minutes gone in the round. Blue slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Score +3 for passing guard: Fish (6) vs (14) Blue Blue controlling the position. Fish is looking to reverse the position.
 That's eleven minutes gone in the round. The referee tells the fighters to keep busy. Fish is trying to improve his position. Fish controls the position for a moment. Blue controls the position from side control.
 That's twelve minutes gone in the round. Fish tries to bench press Blue off him but Blue keeps the position. Blue is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Fish's shoulder. That is not cool.
 That's thirteen minutes gone in the round. Fish gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Fish tries to get to full guard but Blue has control of the leg. Blue with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Fish is looking to control Blue's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Fish avoid being mounted? And that's the end of the fight! Blue wins on points by 14 to 6. During a confident post fight interview, Satan Blue thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him. Steve Fish spoke after the fight, saying 'I aint cut out for this'. |
