The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way.
Le Boulder fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Rodriquez avoids it really well and circles away.
Rodriquez feinted with a counter takedown.
Rodriquez leaves Le Boulder with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Le Boulder closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Rodriquez did well to prevent Le Boulder getting side control.

Le Boulder has hold of Rodriquez's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Rodriquez manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

It looks like Le Boulder might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Le Boulder jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Rodriquez is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Rodriquez and Le Boulder has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Rodriquez is not content to let Le Boulder control the position.
