This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the light heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Hilo, with a TWGC record of 9 wins and 10 losses; Luke Penn! And in the blue corner, fighting out of New York, with a TWGC record of 89 wins and 63 losses; Vasiliy Kulik! The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Columbo Gatti and Jonathan Paton.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way.
Kulik takes the fight into the clinch.
Kulik gets control of Penn's arms and successfully pulls guard. Kulik will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Penn trying to control the position from guard on top but Kulik is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Penn engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Penn trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Penn sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Kulik's guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Penn takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Kulik is trying to maintain the position but Penn is very close to passing his half guard. Penn perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Kulik is looking to control Penn's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Kulik avoid being mounted? Penn is figuring out what he wants to do next. Kulik wants to control but Penn is keeping busy and won't allow it. Penn is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount! Score +3 for passing guard: Penn (3) vs (0) Kulik Penn can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Kulik is looking to escape. Penn with some aggressive grappling here, looking for the finish.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Penn controlling the position easily from mount. Kulik wants to hold on but Penn pushes him away. Kulik stops Penn from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better. Penn controlling the pace for now.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Penn is looking to work his way around to Kulik's back. He needs to be careful though, as he's in danger of losing this dominant position. Penn controlling the position easily from mount. Penn is dominating on the ground here - he's now on his opponent's back, looking to sink in the hooks. Kulik is in real trouble.

 That's eight minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Penn might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
 That's nine minutes gone in the round. Penn has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Kulik looking to pass the guard. Penn seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Kulik trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
 That's ten minutes gone in the round. Penn pulls Kulik in close to his closed guard and prevents Kulik from doing any damage or advancing position. Kulik content to stall in guard here. Kulik stopping the sweep attempt from Penn.
 That's eleven minutes gone in the round. Penn pulls Kulik in close to prevent any damage. Penn tries to land a sweep but no joy. Kulik controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Penn keeping moving, preventing Kulik from controlling successfully. Kulik wants to pass the guard but Penn is keeping the position.
 That's twelve minutes gone in the round. Penn is pulling down on Kulik's head. It's preventing any offense from Kulik, at least for the moment. Kulik seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Penn seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Kulik controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
 That's thirteen minutes gone in the round. Penn pulls Kulik in close to prevent any damage. Penn is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Penn keeping moving, preventing Kulik from controlling successfully. Penn controlling Kulik's posture.
 That's fourteen minutes gone in the round. Kulik stopping the sweep attempt from Penn. Penn wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Kulik has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at KFA. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Kulik content to stall in guard here.
