PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Paulo Kogos (ranked 2186 p4p, 1853 weight class) and Pablo Gaspar (ranked 271 p4p, 236 weight class). Gaspar is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Narco. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Pablo Gaspar was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 23 - 17 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Paulo Kogos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Pablo Gaspar!
The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Paulo Santos and Leandro Rodrigues.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kogos keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Gaspar dives in for a single leg takedown but Kogos sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Kogos is looking to counter the offense by Gaspar and move into the clinch.
Gaspar swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Kogos counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Gaspar cracks Kogos with a right hand to the side of the head.
Kogos fails in his attempt to clinch.
Kogos changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Gaspar tries to avoid it but Kogos manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Gaspar to the ground. Gaspar escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Kogos tries a body shot but Gaspar blocks it.
Gaspar manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

Gaspar jumps guard but Kogos turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Gaspar makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Kogos tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Gaspar drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Kogos gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Paulo Kogos has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Pablo Gaspar.
A short body shot lands from Gaspar as the two fighters clinch.

Gaspar wants the takedown. Kogos is fighting it off but Gaspar persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Kogos's guard against the cage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Gaspar is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Kogos has managed to free his arm - good work.

Kogos is staying active underneath Gaspar, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Gaspar in particular looking to stall.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Kogos tries to strike from the bottom.
Kogos is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Kogos has Gaspar pulled in close to control his posture.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Gaspar shoots for a takedown but Kogos saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Kogos bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Kogos was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Gaspar sizes up Kogos with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
No luck for Kogos with that takedown attempt.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

That's time! Kogos's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

You can see the frustration on Kogos's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Kogos has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Gaspar's face.

It looks like Pablo Gaspar has been cut.
