Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bogdan Volkov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 10 - 0, fighting out of New York, Hobert Nye!
The judges for this bout are Francis DeMontford, Winston Howard and Topper Green.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nye throws a sloppy body shot
and Volkov counters with a three punch combo that has Nye backing up. Nye nods at Volkov to acknowledge the strikes.
Nye throws out a powerful jab.
Volkov moves out of range of the body kick.
Nye pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Volkov walks into a jab.
Nye throws a leg kick that misses.
Volkov looks to land a left hand but Nye moved out of range nicely.
Volkov ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

Hobert Nye seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Nye moves out of range of the strikes.
Nye uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Volkov.
Nye misses with a takedown attempt - Volkov sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Volkov is looking to slow Nye down with leg kicks.

Nye comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Nye tries to score a power double leg takedown but Volkov sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Nye somewhat.

Nye dives in and grabs Volkov's left leg, looking for a takedown. Volkov pushes down on Nye's head and hops out.

Nye's jab looks to have found its range, popping Volkov under the eye.

Volkov wants to sweep but no luck.
Volkov is trying to hold Nye in close to prevent damage but Nye has managed to pass into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Nye is controlling the pace.

Nye throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Nye has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Volkov is trying to get back to full guard.

Volkov definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Volkov wants to control but Nye is keeping busy.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Nye perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Volkov tries to roll over but Nye keeps him under control.
Nye scoring with strikes to the body and head.
Nye seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
It looks like Nye might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Bogdan Volkov will probably get the nod.

and Volkov counters with a left and a right that stings Nye.
Volkov ducks under a wild hook from Nye.

Nye is rocked!
Volkov throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Nye stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Volkov defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Nye.
Nye throws a lazy body kick
and Volkov counters with a crisp right that sends Nye to the canvas! Volkov follows up with punches from the mount and this one is all over!
