PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jose Hernandez (ranked 3808 p4p, 3759 weight class) and Hw Dude (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jose Hernandez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Hw Dude!
The judges for this bout are Percy O'Donnell, Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dude tries to clinch there but Hernandez circles away.

Hernandez drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Hernandez moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
You can see the frustration on Dude's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Sloppy strikes there by Hernandez.
Hernandez remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Hernandez working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
Dude tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Hernandez tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Dude tries to lock up and control but Hernandez gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Dude reaches up to try and control the position but Hernandez seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Dude rolls and tries to escape and now Hernandez has his back!
Dude is really stuck here.
Hernandez is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Hernandez is persistently looking for the submission but Dude is defending it well.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
Hernandez has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Hernandez has the hooks in. Dude is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Hernandez's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Hernandez throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Hernandez fails to land the takedown.
Nice sprawl there from Dude as Hernandez shoots in.
Hernandez shoots for a double leg takedown but Dude sprawls well. He's pushed Hernandez's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

and Hernandez counters with a flying knee. Nice.
Dude keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Hernandez shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Dude is trying to defend but Hernandez finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Hernandez takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dude slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Dude looking to control but Hernandez passes into half guard.
Still in half guard, Hernandez seems content to control.
Dude tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.

Hernandez works his way into full mount!
Hernandez unloads with some shots from mount but Dude bucks and avoids them well.
Dude really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hernandez. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Hernandez is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Dude to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Dude shrugs it off.
Dude is trying to escape the mount but Hernandez keeps good control and instead manages to take Dude's back.
Dude rolls, trying to escape but Hernandez keeps control of the position.

Jose Hernandez overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
