Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Darnell Notts (ranked 3895 p4p, 3828 weight class) and Josh Figueroa (ranked 291 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Darnell Notts!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Josh Figueroa!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Mauricio Rocha and Felipe Paraventi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Figueroa does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Notts fails with the takedown.
Figueroa clinches up with Notts and pushes him back against the cage.
Figueroa looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Notts blocks a couple of punches on the inside.

Both guys are working to get underhooks.

Notts seems a little flustered. He's come in with the intention of controlling the clinch but Figueroa is preventing him from doing so, at least for the moment.

Notts dives in and grabs Figueroa's left leg, looking for a takedown. Figueroa pushes down on Notts's head and hops out.
Figueroa manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Notts on his heels. He'll look to pass Notts's guard now, I'm sure.

Figueroa drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Figueroa jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Notts is trying to control Figueroa's posture but Figueroa avoids it.
Figueroa wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Notts, who protects the arm well.
Notts is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Figueroa swings around for an armbar but Notts sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Figueroa's guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Figueroa holds on and takes a little breather.

Figueroa throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Figueroa wants to stand and escape but Notts is having none of it.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Notts looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Notts tries to clinch up but Figueroa circles away and keeps his distance.
Figueroa goes for a double leg but Notts avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Notts continues to drive forward.
Notts is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Figueroa.
A left and a right from Notts both land. Nice combination.
Notts shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Figueroa but Figueroa pushes him off and we're back to square one.
A little jabbing left from Figueroa on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.

Notts escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Figueroa gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Figueroa's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Notts tries to close the distance and clinch but Figueroa swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
As Notts backs off Figueroa throws a huge counter combo but Notts manages to avoid it all.
Notts gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Notts scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Figueroa throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Notts tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Figueroa is in Notts's guard.
Figueroa postures up and lands a big shot to Notts's brow.

Figueroa seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

Figueroa goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Notts has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Figueroa but great work by Notts.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
