Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Lorenzo Baetens (ranked 3840 p4p, 3837 weight class) and Jonathan Ayers (ranked 199 p4p, 201 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Lorenzo Baetens! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jonathan Ayers! The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Saam Ante and Wagner Zegers.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ayers drives through with a takedown into Baetens's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Ayers makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Ayers controlling from the top position. Baetens wants to stand and escape but Ayers is having none of it. Ayers throwing strikes but missing. Baetens will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Baetens looking for a sweep. Not yet Baetens, not yet. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ayers content to stall in guard here. Ayers stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Baetens swivels though and keeps the full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Baetens wants to sweep but no luck. Ayers is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Baetens looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Ayers is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Baetens. Baetens closes this distance looking for a takedown but Ayers circles away. Ayers lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected. Baetens lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. Baetens tries for a takedown but Ayers sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Baetens throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Baetens fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Ayers looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

and Ayers counters with a low kick, right behind Baetens 's knee. Horrible takedown attempt by Baetens or perhaps it was just good defense by Ayers, which made it look bad. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lorenzo Baetens. That's going to take a lot out of him. Baetens is breathing heavily. Ayers fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Baetens, pushing him back against the cage. Ayers's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Ayers shoots in and gets a takedown into Baetens's guard. This has been an exciting period of action! Ayers slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Baetens had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Ayers defends it easily. Ayers controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ayers makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Baetens looking for a sweep. Not yet Baetens, not yet. Baetens has his foot on Ayers's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Ayers works his way back into a safe position though. Ayers content to stall in guard here. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Ayers clinches up with Baetens and pushes him back against the cage. Baetens is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Ayers to keep the fight standing. Ayers manages to break the clinch.
Ayers scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Baetens seems a little lost for a moment, as Ayers dominates the positioning. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Baetens tries to improve position but can't. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Ayers controls the position. Baetens really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Baetens can't do much from the bottom here. Ayers wants to stand but Baetens has his arm trapped. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Jonathan Ayers dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Baetens avoids a kick to the body.
Baetens is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Ayers. Ayers slaps away a takedown attempt from Baetens, before circling back to the center of the mat. Ayers throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Baetens tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Ayers is in Baetens's guard. Baetens is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Ayers presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat. Ayers is pushing Baetens up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word. Baetens is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Ayers is defending well. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ayers breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

That's two minutes gone in the round. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Baetens accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Ayers seems keen to control Baetens's posture. Baetens trying to control the position from guard on top but Ayers is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Baetens wants to stand but Ayers has a closed guard, so he can't escape. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Ayers holds on and takes a little breather.

Ayers tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. Baetens shoots in but no luck this time. Ayers gets a clinch. Ayers stops a takedown attempt from Baetens.

Baetens is taking damage to the body and head. Ayers controlling the position well here. Baetens rolled but Ayers kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
Ayers is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Baetens has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here. Baetens is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.

Baetens just trying to survive but Ayers is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish. Ayers looking to break Baetens's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Baetens remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Ayers will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ayers is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish. Ayers lands a shot to the body. Baetens tries to break free.
What can Baetens do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
And that's the end of the fight! Jonathan Ayers comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Ayers has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
