Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Josh Figueroa (ranked 3774 p4p, 3878 weight class) and LIl Meesh (ranked 0 p4p, 207 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Josh Figueroa! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, LIl Meesh! The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Felipe Paraventi and Matheus Silva.

Figueroa looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Meesh! Meesh is trying to control Figueroa's posture but Figueroa avoids it. Figueroa scoring with punches and elbows. Meesh tries to buck Figueroa off but Figueroa is having none of it. Figueroa working the ground and pound from side control. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Meesh sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Figueroa is thwarting Meesh's attempts to control the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Figueroa wants to pass to mount but Meesh is defending the position.

He lands a short punch in the meantime. Figueroa tries to pass the half guard into mount. Meesh knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Figueroa missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Figueroa controlling the action here. Meesh trying to control but Figueroa postures up.
Well, if Figueroa is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Meesh trying to hold on to Figueroa's head to control him but Figueroa postures up.
Meesh might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Figueroa haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Meesh shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Figueroa counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Josh Figueroa has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of LIl Meesh.
Figueroa throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Meesh tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Figueroa is in Meesh's guard.
Meesh manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage. Meesh looks winded!

Figueroa just stands there and leans against the cage. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Figueroa jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Meesh walks away with a smile on his face. Figueroa gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Figueroa misses with a takedown attempt - Meesh sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Meesh keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Figueroa gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Meesh counters with a head kick. That will keep Figueroa thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks! Meesh shoots for a double leg takedown but Figueroa sprawls well. He's pushed Meesh's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. It looked like Figueroa wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit. Meesh displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Figueroa. Meesh wants to counter with a clinch but Figueroa pushes him away. Meesh misses with a head kick.
Figueroa is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Meesh's half guard.

He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Figueroa working the head and body with strikes. Figueroa lands strikes from half guard. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Figueroa seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Figueroa with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Figueroa looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Meesh on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Josh Figueroa dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Meesh shoots for a takedown but Figueroa saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Meesh throws a combination that misses
and Figueroa counters with a nice double leg into half guard. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Figueroa lands a nice short elbow. Figueroa is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Meesh can do to turn this around? Meesh tries to roll over but Figueroa keeps him under control. Figueroa is keen to just control but Meesh is a slippery customer. Figueroa is looking to stand up but he'll have to free his leg first. Instead, Meesh manages to get to full guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Meesh looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Figueroa works over Meesh with some ground and pound from guard. Figueroa distracts Meesh with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Meesh is breathing heavily. Figueroa won't allow Meesh to sweep him here. Figueroa seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Figueroa trying to control the position from guard on top but Meesh is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Meesh shoots in for a takedown but Figueroa shows good takedown defense. Figueroa fails with a takedown attempt. Josh Figueroa seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Figueroa fails to land the takedown. Meesh connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Figueroa goes for a double leg but Meesh avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Meesh continues to drive forward. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Josh Figueroa. That's going to take a lot out of him. Figueroa is looking to take this one to the mat. Meesh prevents Figueroa from breaking the clinch. Figueroa looking to slow down the pace here. Figueroa is looking for a takedown.

Figueroa postures up and lands a big shot to Meesh's brow. Figueroa is looking to advance position but Meesh has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
Figueroa wants to control but Meesh is having none of it.
Meesh stands up from mount. Strange move. Horrible takedown attempt by Meesh or perhaps it was just good defense by Figueroa, which made it look bad. As Meesh looks to move away, Figueroa throws a big counter combo but Meesh just gets out of the way.
Figueroa throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Meesh was covering up waiting for the punch and Figueroa finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Meesh can't keep his opponent in guard - Figueroa advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Figueroa looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Figueroa landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Josh Figueroa will probably get the nod. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!
Figueroa tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Meesh swivels and escapes. Figueroa closes this distance looking for a takedown but Meesh circles away. It seemed like Meesh was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it. Figueroa darts in looking for a takedown but Meesh gets double underhooks and turns Figueroa into the cage. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Josh Figueroa. That's going to take a lot out of him. Meesh landing some nice looking knees to the body.
Figueroa can't get the takedown.

Meesh kicks off Figueroa and gets to his feet. Meesh takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Meesh gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Figueroa to score an easy takedown into full guard.

The referee asks Figueroa politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Figueroa prefers to stall for the moment though. Check out the look on Figueroa's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Figueroa is looking to take a break and control but Meesh is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Figueroa is chipping away with strikes.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Josh Figueroa. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Figueroa, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
