And in the blue corner, fighting out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 33 wins and 42 losses; Filmore Everett! The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Robert Twigg and Stewart Dunkirk.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Everett gets a takedown into half guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Shimada (0) vs (2) Everett Shimada is looking to improve his position.
Everett wants to work for an arm triangle but Shimada is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Shimada won't allow Everett to pass to mount. Shimada wants to control but Everett is keeping busy and won't allow it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Everett might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Shimada haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it. You can see the frustration on Everett's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
