The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Hughes fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Okoroji avoids it really well and circles away. Hughes darts in looking for a takedown but Okoroji gets double underhooks and turns Hughes into the ropes. Okoroji has hold of one of Hughes's legs. Hughes is fighting the takedown attempt but Okoroji gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Hughes (0) vs (2) Okoroji We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. That's ten minutes gone in the round. Hughes slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Hughes isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Okoroji stacks Hughes on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Okoroji! Okoroji seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Hughes does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Hughes is looking to control Okoroji's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Hughes avoid being mounted? Hughes makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Hughes. Okoroji is fighting to break Hughes's control of his arms but Hughes is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Hughes is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Hughes has his hands on Okoroji's head, controlling the position. Okoroji not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
