PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sam Mir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steve Giant (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mir comes to the cage accompanied by stranglehold. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Giant cracks Mir with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Sam Mir will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Mir changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Giant tries to avoid it but Mir manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Giant to the ground. Giant escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Mir shoots in for a double leg but Giant sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Nice shot lands for Giant.
A jab lands there for Giant.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Steve Giant showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Mir will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Giant tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Giant crunches a lovely knee into Mir's ribcage.

Giant throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Mir blocks it with crossed arms.

Giant pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mir can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Giant is looking to escape.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
You get the feeling that Giant really doesn't like being in this position too much.

Mir patiently working for the choke. Which fighter will keep their nerve here?

Giant is trying to get back to his feet but Mir has full control of the position and if anything, Giant has just worked his way into a worse spot.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Mir is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Giant is defending well though. Mir let's go of the attempt for now.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
