Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 12 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Vasil Dankovich! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 19 - 20 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Elinho Mineiro! The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Stewart Dunkirk and George Francis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A kick lands to the mid section there for Dankovich. Dankovich bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. Nice defenses there by Mineiro. Dankovich instigates a clinch. Mineiro jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Dankovich walks away with a smile on his face. Mineiro gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Both fighters circling a little - Dankovich finishes the exchange with a kick to the body. Mineiro looks winded! Dankovich throws out a loose jab but Mineiro uses good head movement to avoid it. Dankovich throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Mineiro sees it coming and avoids it easily. Dankovich scores with a leg kick.
Dankovich throws a looping overhand right but Mineiro ducks down to avoid it. Mineiro looks like he wants to counter punch here. Dankovich goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. Mineiro tries to counter by closing the distance. Dankovich has taken the fight to the clinch.
Mineiro tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Mineiro fails to pull the fight into his guard.
I was talking to Dankovich's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight. Vasil Dankovich has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Elinho Mineiro. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Dankovich softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage. Mineiro is trying to pull guard but Dankovich turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mineiro tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Dankovich smiles and moves away.
Dankovich drops Mineiro with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Mineiro looks back up at him and smiles so Dankovich waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
It looks like Elinho Mineiro has been cut. Dankovich throws a big shot that misses. And an attempted straight right on the counter from Mineiro! But no joy. Dankovich lands a big uppercut and Mineiro crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Mineiro looks OK. Dankovich waves Mineiro back to his feet!
Mineiro is rocked! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Dankovich lands a big uppercut and this one is all over! His foe lies motionless on the canvas - a massive one punch knockout!
