PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Abdo Farah (ranked 1879 p4p, 1731 weight class) and Rich Mahogany (ranked 204 p4p, 192 weight class). Mahogany is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Too Much, Too Young, Too Fast. Rich Mahogany is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 15 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Abdo Farah!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 25 - 32 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Rich Mahogany!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, George Francis and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Farah throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Mahogany counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Some bone on bone action there as Farah checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

Mahogany closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Farah's guard.
Farah looking for a sweep. Not yet Farah, not yet.
Mahogany working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Mahogany trying to control the position from guard on top but Farah is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Farah utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Mahogany postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Mahogany with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Farah knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Mahogany on the ground.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Farah wants to stand but Mahogany is controlling the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Farah keeping moving, preventing Mahogany from controlling successfully.
Mahogany is fighting to break Farah's control of his arms but Farah is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Mahogany's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Mahogany drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Farah manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Mahogany has Farah in his guard.


Mahogany is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

Mahogany turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Mahogany misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Farah is trying to control Mahogany's posture but Mahogany avoids it.

Mahogany looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Farah is trying to get back to half guard.

Mahogany is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Farah has escaped the position, nice work there.
Farah is pushing Mahogany's head away, looking to escape. Mahogany manages to hold on to the position though.

Mahogany with the ground and pound but Farah regains half guard under the barage of strikes.
Mahogany throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Farah to regain full guard.
Mahogany has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Farah avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Mahogany works a leg free and moves into half guard.

Mahogany is looking for a kimura here.
Mahogany works his foot free and advances to mount.
Farah tries to hold on but Mahogany pushes him away.

Mahogany trying to control but he's not successful this time.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Mahogany cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Farah manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Farah tries to roll over but Mahogany keeps him under control.
Mahogany misses with a head shot. Farah uses the momentum to regain guard.
Mahogany wants to control from the top but Farah keeps moving.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Rich Mahogany dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Farah dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Farah throws a lazy right hand but Mahogany sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Farah throws the left hand but Mahogany avoids the punch easily.
Farah scores with a hook to the body. Mahogany takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Farah uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Mahogany has time to react.
Rich Mahogany seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Farah tries to work over Mahogany's front leg with a kick but Mahogany checks it.
Farah throws a jab but it's blocked by Mahogany.
A solid leg kick lands there for Mahogany.
Farah bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Farah swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Mahogany throws a counter combo.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Farah on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Mahogany. Mahogany obviously looking to wear him down.

Farah thows a left - swing and a miss!
Farah lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

and Mahogany counters with a single leg into guard. Farah didn't expect that.
Farah on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Farah tries to get out of the position.
Mahogany postures up.

Mahogany is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Mahogany drops back looking for a leg! Farah is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Farah manages to kick Mahogany off! Mahogany jumps back into Farah's guard.

Mahogany loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Farah wants to stand up but Mahogany is controlling him.
Mahogany wants to control from the top but Farah keeps moving.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Mahogany with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Mahogany misses with a takedown attempt - Farah sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Mahogany takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Abdo Farah is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Farah throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Mahogany sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Mahogany moves to clinch but Farah breaks away
and Farah counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Farah takes a swing at Mahogany's ribcage but misses.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Farah on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Mahogany lands a nice hook to Farah's body. Farah takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Farah looks to land a right hand but Mahogany moved out of range.
Farah looks to score with a jab to the body but Mahogany is just out of range.
Mahogany misses with an uppercut. Farah saw that one coming.
Farah moves out of range as Mahogany strikes.
Mahogany shoots in for a takedown but Farah shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
As Mahogany looks to move away, Farah throws a big counter combo but Mahogany just gets out of the way.
Mahogany tries to score a power double leg takedown but Farah sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Mahogany somewhat.
Abdo Farah has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rich Mahogany.
Mahogany shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Farah counters with a head kick.
Farah throws an overhand right that lands on Mahogany's shoulder, as Mahogany tries to avoid the shot.
Farah throws a leg kick but Mahogany sees it coming and moves out of range.
Mahogany tries to counter by closing the distance.
Farah throws a body punch but Mahogany moves out of range.

Mahogany blocks a jab.
Mahogany shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Farah pinned against the cage. Farah gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Farah feints and then cracks Mahogany's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Mahogany down.
Farah loads up on a big right hand but Mahogany slips the punch.
Mahogany steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Farah.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Mahogany shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Farah tries to kick Mahogany off but Mahogany keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Mahogany thows a huge punch but Farah dodges it nicely.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Mahogany will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Farah up against the cage.

A left hand lands to the body for Farah.

A quick uppercut on the inside from Farah.

Farah escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
We've been told by Farah's head coaches at The Hidden that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Mahogany lands with a right hand.
Abdo Farah is winning the standup battle so far.
Farah tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Mahogany was well out of range. Poor timing from Farah.
A nice leg kick from Mahogany, right into the meat of the thigh.
Mahogany shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Farah as he avoids it easily.
Farah wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
A big left from Farah misses.
Farah misses with a hook.
Mahogany flicks out a counter leg kick but Farah steps away.
Farah just misses with a punch to the body.
Mahogany throws out a counter right but Farah avoids it with no problem.
Farah looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Mahogany.

Mahogany takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Farah slaps away a takedown attempt from Mahogany, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Mahogany takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Mahogany takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Farah lands a slapping body shot.
Farah throws a lazy right hand but Mahogany sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Mahogany fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Farah connects with a single shot there.

And that's the end of the fight!
Abdo Farah showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Farah has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
