Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jay Leaf (ranked 1475 p4p, 1535 weight class) and Clint Westshade (ranked 130 p4p, 135 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Jay Leaf!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Clint Westshade!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Trevor Gratis and Robert Douchet.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Westshade jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Leaf feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Westshades jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Leaf tries to bum rush Westshade with a series of wild strikes but Westshade uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Westshade closes the distance and clinches.
Leaf lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Leaf tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Westshade smiles and moves away.
Nice shot by Leaf.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Leaf misses with a straight right.
Westshade is looking to slow Leaf down with leg kicks.
Leaf throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Westshade counters with a slapping leg kick.

Westshade flicks out a counter leg kick but Leaf steps away.
Good standup being displayed there by Westshade as he connects with a hook.
It looks like Jay Leaf has been cut.
Leaf fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Westshade tries to clinch up but Leaf circles away and keeps his distance.
Leaf misses with a hook. Westshade ducked under it nicely.
Westshade tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Leaf manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Westshade does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
A little feinted left hand from Leaf on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.

Leaf is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Westshade's half guard.
Westshade has hold of Leaf's hands but Leaf slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Leaf is looking to take a break and control but Westshade is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Leaf has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Leaf is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Westshade is just riding it out for now. Leaf eventually gives up the hold.

Leaf seems to be working for a kimura but Westshade defends the submission attempt.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Leaf missing with a left hand there. Westshade was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Westshade looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Westshade has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Westshade there as he acknowledges the shot.
Westshade pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Leaf back to the cage. Westshade follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.

Westshade tries to work over Leaf's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Westshade swings wildly with an uppercut but Leaf uses good head movement to avoid it.
Leaf tries to pull guard but Westshade holds him up against the cage and eventually Leaf drops back down to his feet.
Leaf tries for a takedown. No joy.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jay Leaf. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Westshade breaks from the clinch.
Leaf throws a shot from downtown. Westshade moves away and avoids it.

We've been hearing that Leaf has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.

Some bone on bone action there as Leaf checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
