Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mateus Nunes (ranked 963 p4p, 2602 weight class) and Tommy Moody (ranked 97 p4p, 247 weight class). Moody has chosen New Authentic - The Abyss as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mateus Nunes! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Tommy Moody! The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Ren Mimura and Taro Takaoka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Moody misses the shot to the body. Nunes wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch. Moody throws out a loose jab but Nunes uses good head movement to avoid it. We've been told by Nunes's head coaches at California Top Team that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. A shot to the body from Moody misses and Nunes counters with a lovely straight right hand! Nunes takes the fight into the clinch. Nunes blocking some punches.

Nunes swivels though and keeps the full guard. Moody would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. The referee is pacing around the two fighters, thinking about a standup. Nunes looking to control.

That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Nunes moves away from the strike by Moody. Nunes uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Moody.

That was a close round but I would say that Mateus Nunes will probably get the nod. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

And that's the end of the fight! Tommy Moody comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Moody has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today.
