Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Grapple King Keaton! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Stephen Compton! The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Robert Twigg and Chris Downing.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Keaton loads up on a big right hand but Compton slips the punch. Keaton takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Keaton looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Keaton takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Keaton fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Compton avoids it really well and circles away. Keaton takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. Keaton throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Compton sees it coming and avoids it easily. Keaton shoots in for a double leg but Compton sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Keaton shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Compton sprawls well. Compton wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Keaton gets slowly back to his feet. Compton has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Grapple King Keaton. That's going to take a lot out of him. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Compton uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Keaton has time to react. Keaton shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Compton wants to get back to his feet.
Keaton is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Keaton uses his free foot to push down on Compton's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Compton. Keaton looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio. Compton is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
Keaton is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Compton is surviving well by controlling Keaton's body position as best he can.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Keaton is working for a guillotine from mount but Compton frees his head quite easily.
Compton is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Keaton looking to secure an arm triangle but Compton defends it well. Compton wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Keaton.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Keaton looking for a guillotine from mount but Compton is having none of it. Compton's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up. Keaton misses with a head shot. Compton squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Compton can do anything to dispel that myth. Compton is squirming around, avoiding Keaton's attempts to control the action. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Keaton working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet. Keaton tries to control but Compton wriggling away.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Keaton is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Compton has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Compton! Compton works a leg free and moves into half guard. Compton is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount! Compton working for a submission but Keaton is keeping him at bay. Keaton regains half guard. Compton seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Keaton is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Stephen Compton! In his post fight interview, Stephen Compton started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
