The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Hughes. Hughes closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Score +4 for clean takedown past guard: Hughes (4) vs (0) Fontaine Fontaine tries to buck Hughes off but Hughes is having none of it. Hughes wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Fontaine, who protects the arm well. Fontaine is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Hughes's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Fontaine is trying to maintain the position but Hughes is very close to passing his half guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Fontaine is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Hughes has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
