Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Kieran Chan (ranked 4848 p4p, 3830 weight class) and Boxy Mcboxer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Kieran Chan! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Boxy Mcboxer! The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Vladimir Khabensky and Konstantin Menshow.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! No luck for Mcboxer with that takedown attempt. A right-left combo lands from Chan.
It looks like Boxy Mcboxer has been cut. Mcboxer is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Mcboxer avoids the head kick by Chan.
Mcboxer shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Chan counters with a one-two to the body. Chan keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
As Mcboxer looks to move away, Chan throws a big counter combo but Mcboxer just gets out of the way. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mcboxer tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Chan swivels and escapes. Kieran Chan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Boxy Mcboxer. Chan pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Chan has managed to clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round. Chan has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Mcboxer after a bit of a struggle. The pace really dropping off here, momentarily. Mcboxer dodges an elbow strike from Chan.

A frustrated look appears on Mcboxer's face as he tries to break the clinch. Chan is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Mcboxer pulls him back up using the underhooks. Chan pulls Mcboxer into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Chan wants to sweep but no luck. Chan bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Mcboxer's guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mcboxer is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Chan is aware though and is defending well. Mcboxer is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Chan sitting in guard here, content to control. Chan is looking to work some ground and pound but Mcboxer has wrist control. Chan works a leg free and moves into half guard. Chan thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Chan works his foot free and advances to mount. Mcboxer is in all sorts of trouble here.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Chan moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Mcboxer has worked his arm free - good work by Mcboxer!
You can see the frustration on Mcboxer's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Chan is trying to get an arm triangle but Mcboxer is defending well. Chan remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Chan has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Mcboxer can't do much from the bottom here. Mcboxer prevents Chan from improving position. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Chan wants to lay and pray for a moment but Mcboxer keeps working. Mcboxer is looking to regain half guard here but Chan keeps moving and retains side control. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Kieran Chan dominated that round. The cut man is working on Boxy Mcboxer's cut. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Chan shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Mcboxer pinned against the cage. Mcboxer gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Mcboxer is looking for the big counter here. Mcboxer is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot. Chan shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Mcboxer defends it nicely. Mcboxer shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Chan but Chan pushes him off and we're back to square one. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mcboxer shoots in looking for a takedown but Chan manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Mcboxer's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. No luck with that takedown attempt from Chan.

Mcboxer tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Chan defends well and Mcboxer ends up having to push Chan into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Mcboxer changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Chan tries to avoid it but Mcboxer manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Chan to the ground. Chan escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Chan fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Mcboxer avoids it really well and circles away. No luck for Chan with that takedown attempt. Mcboxer tries to counter with a clinch but Chan shakes him off and moves away. Mcboxer thows a leg kick but Chan checks it and Chan counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Chan. Chan manages to break the clinch.
Mcboxer shoots in looking for a takedown. Chan tries to sprawl out of it but Mcboxer keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Chan manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Mcboxer fails to land the takedown. Chan throws a big counter combination but Mcboxer scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage. Chan shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Mcboxer as he jumps to the side. Mcboxer doesn't succeed with the takedown and Chan counters by clinching up. Mcboxer is breathing heavily. Chan fails to pull the fight into his guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mcboxer is trying to pull guard but Chan has him pressed against the cage. Chan pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Chan avoids the head kick by Mcboxer.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Mcboxer. Chan shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Mcboxer but Mcboxer pushes him off and we're back to square one. A punch combination from Chan misses. Chan shoots in for a takedown but Mcboxer shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Mcboxer shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Chan as he jumps to the side. Chan will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Mcboxer keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Chan throws a body kick despite being completely out of range and Mcboxer counters with a straight right hand. Mcboxer misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Mcboxer gets caught napping as Chan dives in and scores a takedown. Mcboxer manages to retain guard. Chan working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Chan is working Mcboxer over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Chan might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. This has been an exciting period of action! Chan engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Chan has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Chan is looking to work some ground and pound but Mcboxer has wrist control. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Horrible takedown attempt by Chan or perhaps it was just good defense by Mcboxer, which made it look bad. Mcboxer tries to clinch up and Chan counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Chan displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Mcboxer. Kieran Chan is winning the standup battle so far.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Chan shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Mcboxer pinned against the cage. Mcboxer gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Mcboxer. Mcboxer takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Chan moves out of range of the leg kick from Mcboxer. Mcboxer tries to clinch but Chan moves out of range. Chan throws a right and a left that Mcboxer avoids nicely. Mcboxer counters with a body kick. Kieran Chan is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Nice sprawl there from Chan as Mcboxer shoots in. Chan attempts a counter takedown but Mcboxer avoids it well and moves away. Mcboxer misses with a takedown attempt - Chan sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Chan shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Mcboxer sprawls well. Mcboxer wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Chan gets slowly back to his feet. Chan shoots for a takedown but Mcboxer saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Mcboxer throws a hook to the side of Chan's head but Chan sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Chan throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land. Nice sprawl there from Mcboxer as Chan shoots in. Mcboxer steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Chan. Mcboxer throws the kick towards the body but Chan avoids it. Chan shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Mcboxer but Mcboxer pushes him off and we're back to square one. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Chan is defended easily by Mcboxer. Mcboxer doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The fight moves into the clinch position. Mcboxer jumps guard but Chan stands there with Mcboxer around his waist. Mcboxer gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
The referee is keeping an eye on Chan - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Chan drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Mcboxer gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Boxy Mcboxer has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Kieran Chan is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Chan has Mcboxer pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Mcboxer manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Kieran Chan. Well Chan has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win...
