PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Vandis Campeno (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and George Michael Bluth (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that George Michael Bluth was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Vandis Campeno!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, George Michael Bluth!
The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Edson Gomes and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Campeno.
Bluth looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Campeno bobbing and weaving well here. And he's unloaded with a massive right hand that drops Bluth! He dives into his guard looking to finish!


It looks like George Michael Bluth has been cut.
Campeno tries to stand but Bluth is controlling from the bottom.
Campeno tries to free his leg and advance position but Bluth is retaining full guard.
Campeno is looking to stand up but Bluth won't let him.
Campeno wants to control from the top but Bluth keeps moving.
Campeno controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Campeno stands up and waves to Bluth to follow him.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Campeno lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Bluth backs up against the ropes.
Campeno cracks Bluth with a big right hand and Bluth goes down!


Bluth is rocked!
Campeno wants to control from the top but Bluth keeps moving.
Bluth is still in real trouble! Can Campeno finish him?
Campeno wants to get up but he can't break Bluth's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Bluth seems to have recovered his senses.
Campeno not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Campeno wanted to stand there but Bluth had control of the position.

Campeno gets to his feet. Bluth looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Campeno misses the jab.
Campeno drops Bluth with a left right combo! Campeno follows him down to the ground into side control.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Bluth is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Campeno is looking to take a break and control but Bluth is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Campeno wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Bluth, who protects the arm well.
Campeno trying to control the action but Bluth is working from the bottom.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Campeno decides to stand back up. Campeno steps back and let's Bluth get back to his feet.
Campeno misses with a low kick as Bluth jumps back.
Bluth uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Campeno.
Campeno lands with a straight right. Bluth didn't see that one coming.
Bluth misses the shot to the body.
Campeno thuds his right hand into Bluth's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.


That has opened up George Michael Bluth's cut even more.

Campeno scores with the left hand. Bluth knows he should have avoided that one.
Campeno swinging wilding here.
Bluth dives in and grabs Campeno's left leg, looking for a takedown. Campeno pushes down on Bluth's head and hops out.
Campeno misses with a straight right.
Campeno uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.

Campeno throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Bluth was covering up waiting for the punch and Campeno finishes the takedown easily into guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Campeno trying to control the position from guard on top but Bluth is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Campeno controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Campeno scores with a hook to the body. Bluth takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Bluth staying out of range there.
A swing and a miss from Campeno.
Vandis Campeno seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Campeno tries to bum rush Bluth with a series of wild strikes but Bluth uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Campeno throws a nice looking combination but Bluth bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Vandis Campeno is winning the standup battle so far.
Campeno tests Bluth's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Campeno throws a chopping leg kick but Bluth manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Campeno misses with a low kick.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Campeno misses with the combination.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Bluth.

Campeno scores with the left hand. Bluth knows he should have avoided that one.
Campeno will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Campeno connects with a nice looking jab.
Bluth has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Campeno finds it's way round the side to connect with Bluth's head.

Campeno thows a left - swing and a miss!
Campeno swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Campeno lands with an overhand left.
No luck for Bluth with that takedown attempt.
Bluth takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

Campeno throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Campeno misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Campeno scores with a decent looking hook.
Bluth displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Campeno throws out the jab.
Bluth walks into a left hand.
Campeno fails with the takedown
and Bluth counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.
Campeno stalks Bluth and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Bluth's face. Bluth staggers backwards, shaken.
Campeno jabbing away but nothing is landing.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Bluth.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Campeno pushes Bluth away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Bluth gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Campeno can't do much from the bottom here.
Bluth wants to lay and pray for a moment but Campeno keeps working.
Campeno tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Campeno gets back to half guard.
Bluth is looking to take a break and control but Campeno is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Bluth looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Bluth trying to control from half guard but Campeno is working away.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
A jab lands there for Campeno.
Campeno misses with a looping left.
Bluth gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Campeno just misses with a punch to the body.
Campeno connects with the punch.
Bluth tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Vandis Campeno dominated that second round.

That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!


Campeno throws a jab when Bluth was well out of range.
Bluth on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Bluth throws a leg kick
and Campeno makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Campeno drops Bluth with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Bluth looks back up at him and smiles so Campeno waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
BOOM! Campeno lands a beautiful left hook that drops Bluth. Bluth tries to recover but Campeno is having none of it, landing more punishing shots from mount. One final crushing shot and Bluth lies motionless on the canvas. The fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:26 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Vandis Campeno!
