Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Marcus De Paula!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, James McFist!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Thiago Cunha and Alexandre Firmino.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A shot to de liver by De Paula. Beautiful body shot.
De Paula misses with a few strikes there.
De Paula throws a right and a left that both miss.

McFist has taken the fight to the clinch.
De Paula is trying to break the clinch but McFist is controlling him.
De Paula wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

McFist wants the takedown. De Paula is fighting it off but McFist persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in De Paula's guard against the ropes.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
De Paula controls McFist momentarily but McFist frees himself.

McFist thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
De Paula not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
McFist missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
McFist trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
De Paula wants to stand but McFist is controlling the position.

De Paula looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
De Paula listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
James McFist seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
De Paula connects with a nice looking jab.
McFist shoots in for a takedown but De Paula shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
McFist tries to clinch but De Paula moves out of range.
De Paula tries to clinch but McFist is having none of it.
De Paula keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
McFist looks gassed!
De Paula tries to close the distance and clinch up against the ropes but McFist paws at him with a jab and circles away.
McFist shoots in for a takedown but De Paula shows good takedown defense.
Marcus De Paula has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of James McFist.
De Paula throws a good cross that connects.
