PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Liu Xan (ranked 2725 p4p, 3134 weight class) and Bayu Prasetya (ranked 223 p4p, 347 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Bayu Prasetya was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Liu Xan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Bayu Prasetya!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Good standup being displayed there by Xan as he connects with a hook.
The fight stays on the outside here - Prasetya looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Xan tests Prasetya's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Xan connects with a nice looking jab.
Prasetya takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Prasetya takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Xan cracks Prasetya with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

Prasetya forces Xan back against the ropes and clinches.

Xan drags the fight down to the ground.

Prasetya passes Xan's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Prasetya trying to pass the guard but Xan defending well.

Prasetya is working for a submission of some sort.

Prasetya is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Xan doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Prasetya.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

The fighters are battling for position here. Xan manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Xan working for a triangle but Prasetya defends it easily.

Prasetya is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Xan looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Prasetya avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Prasetya looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Xan wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Prasetya wants to control from the top but Xan keeps moving.
Prasetya is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Prasetya postures up in Xan's guard and throws a big left but Xan blocks it.

Prasetya drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Prasetya jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Xan is looking for a triangle but Prasetya pushes his legs off easily.
Prasetya trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Xan tries to land a sweep but no joy.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Xan looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Xan is on top in guard.


Prasetya is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Xan stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Prasetya swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Xan avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Prasetya keeping moving, preventing Xan from controlling successfully.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Liu Xan dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the ring so we can get back down to business.

Prasetya takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Prasetya tries to clinch up.
Liu Xan is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Prasetya fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Xan is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Prasetya can do to turn this around?
Xan scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Prasetya avoids a punch combination nicely.

Xan goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Xan's jab looks to have found its range, popping Prasetya under the eye.
Liu Xan is winning the standup battle so far.
Xan scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Nice straight punches there by Xan. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Xan.

Prasetya is rocked!
Prasetya darts in looking for a takedown but Xan gets double underhooks and turns Prasetya into the ropes.
Xan connects with a nice looking jab.
Prasetya is still on wobbly legs! Can Xan finish him?
Prasetya takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

and Xan counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Liu Xan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bayu Prasetya.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Prasetya fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Prasetya is breathing heavily.
Xan connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Prasetya's hands.
Xan throws a good cross that connects.
Xan lunges at Prasetya with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Prasetya's hand.
Liu Xan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Prasetya closes the distance and clinches up with Xan, looking for a takedown. Prasetya pushes Xan against the ropes but Xan circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Xan appears to be looking for a big counter.
Xan jabs Prasetya to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Xan paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Xan's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Xan duly obliges.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Xan moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
It looks like Xan has been trying to sharpen up his punching technique, as it looks crisper than last time we saw him.
Xan throws an overhand right from the outside, which connects and sends Prasetya stumbling backwards into the ropes! Prasetya bounces back off the ropes towards Xan, who cracks him with a two punch combination that drops him to his knees! Xan lands two more shots before the referee has chance to intervene - what a finish! Xan celebrates with his corner as the crowd cheer loudly.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:15 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Liu Xan!
