Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Brian Shultz! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Chad Boyer! The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Paul Aken and Saam Ante.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Boyer scores with a head kick.
Boyer scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
It looks like Brian Shultz has been cut. Boyer misses with the combination.
Shultz appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick. Boyer tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Shultz paws at him with a jab and circles away. Boyer tries to clinch but Shultz moves out of range. A solid body kick from Boyer. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Boyer wants to clinch. Shultz feinted with a counter takedown.
That's one minute gone in the round. Boyer throws a looping overhand right but Shultz ducks down to avoid it. Boyer throws a combination that misses and Shultz counters with a shoot takedown. Boyer fights it but they end up in guard. Boyer is looking to stand back up but Shultz counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Boyer.
Boyer looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Shultz controlling the pace. Shultz works his way into side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The referee tells the fighters to keep busy. Boyer is looking to regain half guard here but Shultz keeps moving and retains side control. Shultz is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Boyer looks calm but he's in trouble here. Shultz gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Boyer is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Shultz lets go of the hold and Boyer can pop his arm back in it's socket.
