Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Itziar Belmond (ranked 1233 p4p, 1330 weight class) and Winter Scarletwound (ranked 154 p4p, 165 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Itziar Belmond!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Winter Scarletwound!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Tiny Johnson and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Scarletwound misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Scarletwound swings widly with a right hand
and Belmond counters with a nice body kick.

Belmond rushes Scarletwound and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Scarletwound takes an elbow to the temple.
A short body shot lands from Belmond as the two fighters clinch.
Belmond lands an elbow inside.

It looks like Winter Scarletwound has been cut.
Scarletwound manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Belmond lands an elbow inside that Scarletwound shrugs off.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Belmond has hold of one of Scarletwound's legs. Scarletwound is fighting the takedown attempt but Belmond gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Belmond closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Scarletwound wants to improve his position but Belmond is controlling well.

Belmond tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Belmond's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Belmond is working for a guillotine from mount but Scarletwound frees his head quite easily.
Scarletwound tries to hold on but Belmond pushes him away.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Belmond takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
BOOM! Belmond connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Belmond is pulling down on Scarletwound's head. It's preventing any offense from Scarletwound, at least for the moment.
Scarletwound must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Belmond remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Belmond seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Scarletwound for as long as he can get away with.
