Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Arthur Pugsley (ranked 1480 p4p, 1822 weight class) and Tyres Widforss (ranked 134 p4p, 156 weight class). Tyres Widforss will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 16 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Arthur Pugsley! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 16 - 19 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Tyres Widforss! The judges for this bout are George Francis, Stewart Dunkirk and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pugsley tries to clinch and Widforss counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Pugsley gets back to full guard.
Widforss thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Widforss wants to control from the top but Pugsley keeps moving. Pugsley throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Widforss tries to free his leg and advance position but Pugsley is retaining full guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Widforss content to stall in guard here. Pugsley escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Widforss gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Pugsley is trying to maintain the position but Widforss is very close to passing his half guard. Pugsley looking for submissions off his back. Widforss wants to take a breather but Pugsley is having none of it. Pugsley might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Widforss seems to be working for a kimura but Pugsley defends the submission attempt. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Pugsley slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Pugsley has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Widforss can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Widforss stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Pugsley swivels though and keeps the full guard. Pugsley is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Widforss looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Widforss is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Pugsley makes his way to full guard, as Widforss worked for a kimura.

Pugsley looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Widforss throws out a loose jab but Pugsley uses good head movement to avoid it. Widforss darts in and out, connecting with a jab. Widforss swinging wildly here.
Pugsley tries to close the distance and clinch up but Widforss swats him away and circles back towards the center. Pugsley takes one on the button. Donk. Widforss catches Pugsley right on the button with a cross. Widforss lands a nice shot to the body.

Widforss shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Widforss was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Pugsley is looking for a sweep.

Widforss thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Widforss working away. A bit of a lull in the action here. Pugsley takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Pugsley lands strikes from half guard. Widforss trying to hold on to Pugsley's head to control him but Pugsley postures up.

Widforss is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Pugsley is aware though and is defending well. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Pugsley is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Pugsley advances to half guard. And that is the end of the round. The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Widforss shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Pugsley manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Pugsley working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Widforss doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Widforss manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Arthur Pugsley has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Widforss got a little sloppy there for a moment and Pugsley has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Widforss has managed to get both his arms back between Pugsley's legs - danger averted. Widforss controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Pugsley closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Widforss did well to prevent Pugsley getting side control. Widforss is trying to maintain the position but Pugsley is very close to passing his half guard. Widforss has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Widforss is doing well to control the position and prevent Pugsley from advancing to side control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Pugsley scoring with strikes to the body and head. Pugsley passes the guard and advances to mount! Pugsley raining down shots from the mount! Widforss regains half guard. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Widforss is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Pugsley's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Pugsley's back! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Pugsley is trying to stand back up.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Tyres Widforss. Well Widforss has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today.
