Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Hugo Eklund!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Kenichi Hosakawa and Yukihiro Shimada.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A decent looking cross lands there for Patterson.
Some bone on bone action there as Patterson checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Patterson bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Eklund's head.
Eklund throws a low kick but Patterson moves out of range easily.
It looked like Patterson wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Eklund slips a jab from Patterson.
Eklund tries a quick counter leg kick but Patterson is wise to it.
Eklund misses with a lunging right hand
letting Patterson counter with a right hand.
Eklund fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Patterson.
Eklund looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Eklund connects with a high kick.
It looks like John Patterson has been cut.
Eklund throws a combination that misses
and Patterson counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Patterson misses with a looping left.
Eklund throws a nice looking combination but Patterson bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Patterson fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Eklund looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Eklund throws a right hand that Patterson ducks under and follows up with a left that Patterson also avoids with ease.
Patterson avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Good leg kick by Eklund.
Eklund throws a head kick that misses.

Eklund tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
John Patterson is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Patterson throws the left hand but Eklund avoids the punch easily.
Patterson uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Eklund has time to react.
Patterson looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Patterson misses with a combination
and Eklund counters with a leg kick.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Eklund has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Eklund takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Eklund misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Eklund fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Patterson has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Patterson throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Eklund sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Patterson uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Eklund has time to react.

Patterson is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.

Patterson moves out of range as Eklund throws a body kick.
Patterson works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.

and Patterson counters with a straight right hand.

Eklund throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Patterson lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.

Eklund thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Patterson if he has to take too many more of those.

Patterson's corner calls for a 1-2. Patterson obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Patterson avoids a kick to the body.
Eklund throws a leg kick but Patterson sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Eklund avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Eklund on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Patterson comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Patterson takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Eklund doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Eklund looks winded!
Eklund avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Eklund misses with a body kick.
Eklund walks straight into a right hand from Patterson - that's dropped him! Patterson jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Eklund from any more punishment! Eklund complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.
