Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Walter Francis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Panda Cuchi!
The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Hirohito Nitta and Yukihiro Yamamoto.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cuchi misses with a wild body shot.
Francis misses with a straight left.
Walter Francis seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Francis bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Cuchi's head.
Francis throws a hook but Cuchi blocks it.
Cuchi tries to clinch but Francis is having none of it.
Francis clobbers Cuchi with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Francis takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Francis takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Francis misses the shot to the body.
Francis swings and misses with a shot to the body
and Cuchi counters with a three punch combo that has Francis backing up. Francis nods at Cuchi to acknowledge the strikes.
Cuchi ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Cuchi uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Francis has time to react.
Cuchi tries to clinch there but Francis circles away.
Francis misses with a left hand
and Cuchi counters with a three punch combo that has Francis backing up. Francis nods at Cuchi to acknowledge the strikes.
Francis connects with a crisp jab.
Cuchi is rocked!
Cuchi takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Cuchi is still on wobbly legs! Can Francis finish him?
Cuchi is looking to clinch but Francis is avoiding it.
Cuchi misses the shot to the body.
Francis misses with a hook.
Francis misses with an uppercut. Cuchi saw that one coming.
Francis misses with a left hand
and Cuchi counters with a right, a left and a big uppercut that drops Francis to the mat! Cuchi runs to a neutral corner to get the count going quickly. 3,4,5,6 and Francis is back to his feet. He seems ready to continue - the ref agrees so we're back at it!
Francis is rocked!
Cuchi seems to have recovered his senses.
Francis takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Oh Francis is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Francis sizes up Cuchi with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Francis seems to have got his legs back now.
Cuchi defending well as Francis loads up on a big left hand.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Francis misses with a body shot
and Cuchi counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Cuchi gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Francis.
Francis throws a lazy uppercut
and Cuchi counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Cuchi connects with a crushing straight, right on the bridge of Francis's nose, sending him crumpling to the mat! That's really rocked Francis - is he going to beat the count??? 4,5,6,7,8,9.....10 - he's not made it - this one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:17 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punch). Panda Cuchi!
