PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kelton Bailey (ranked 1882 p4p, 2484 weight class) and Jamison Hardin (ranked 230 p4p, 287 weight class). Hardin is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Memories (feat. Kid Cudi). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kelton Bailey!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jamison Hardin!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, William Gold and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bailey looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Hardin throws a series of punches but Bailey avoids them all with ease.
Hardin looks to land a right hand but Bailey moved out of range.
Hardin scores with a hook to the body. Bailey takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Hardin lands with a kick to the ribs.
Bailey shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Bailey shoots in for a takedown but Hardin shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Hardin looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Hardin moves out of range as Bailey strikes.
Hardin keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.

Bailey has been working on his balance at MMA Hype Gym, so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Hardin.
A slow jab from Hardin misses its intended target.
Bailey throws a right and a left that both miss.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Bailey will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
It seemed like Hardin was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Bailey throws a hook to the side of Hardin's head but Hardin sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Hardin throws an overhand right that lands on Bailey's shoulder, as Bailey tries to avoid the shot.
Bailey scores with a nice head shot.
Hardin looks to throw the jab but Bailey is out of range.
Bailey uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Hardin.
Bailey throws a jab when Hardin was well out of range.
A little jabbing left from Hardin on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Bailey feints a jab promting Hardin to slip. Bailey then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Hardin slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Hardin throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Bailey stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Hardin scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Bailey scores with a sloppy right hand. Hardin should have avoided that one.
Hardin scores with the left hand. Bailey knows he should have avoided that one.
Hardin ducks under a wild hook from Bailey.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Hardin throws a hook but Bailey avoids it easily.
Bailey misses the body punch
and Hardin counters with a stiff right hand.
Bailey bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Hardin lands a really nice looking cross but Bailey seems unphased.
Kelton Bailey seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Bailey throws a hook to the side of Hardin's head but Hardin sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
It seemed like Hardin was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

Hardin misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Hardin takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Bailey lands a slapping body shot.
Bailey walks into a left hand.
Hardin misses with a straight right.
A big left from Hardin misses.
Bailey feinted with a counter takedown.
Hardin takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Hardin's coach down at Gold Samurai\'s Gym was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Hardin's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Bailey connects with a body shot.
Bailey ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Hardin moves away.
Jamison Hardin is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Bailey clinches.

Hardin wants to break the clinch but can't.

Hardin breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Hardin uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Bailey.

Bailey clinches up with Hardin and pushes him back against the cage.
Hardin tries to break free but Bailey pushes him back against the cage.

Hardin's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Bailey checks a low kick from Hardin.
Bailey drops down looking for a counter takedown but Hardin sprawls and moves away.

Bailey fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Hardin, pushing him back against the cage.

Hardin breaks the clinch.
Hardin defending well as Bailey loads up on a big left hand.
Bailey scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Hardin swings for the body but Bailey moves out of range.
Hardin paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Bailey connects with a nice looking jab.

Bailey shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Bailey showed some decent athleticism there.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Well, if Bailey is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Bailey wants to pass the guard but Hardin is defending well.

Bailey wants to work for an arm triangle but Hardin is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Bailey is keen to just control but Hardin is a slippery customer.
Hardin wants to get back to his feet.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Hardin is in trouble now - Bailey has advanced to mount!
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Kelton Bailey will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

Bailey dives in for a single leg takedown but Hardin sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Hardin won't allow Bailey to sweep him here.

Bailey looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Bailey bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Hardin's guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hardin wants to stand but Bailey is controlling the position.
Bailey is pushing down on Hardin's leg trying to pass to half guard. Hardin is fighting to maintain full guard but Bailey has managed to sneak the leg through.

Bailey is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Hardin doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Bailey.
Hardin is trying to stand.

Bailey is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Bailey is keen to just control but Hardin is a slippery customer.
Kelton Bailey overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hardin pushes Bailey off looking to stand but Bailey dives back in and keeps control.
Bailey is controlling the pace.

Bailey is working for a submission of some sort.

Hardin pushes Bailey off, looking to escape but Bailey dives into side control. He's locked up a kimura now - that was fast! He's cranking on it and Hardin is forced to tap! The fight is over!
