Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Diego Veron (ranked 3776 p4p, 3784 weight class) and Michael Brandt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Michael Brandt will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Diego Veron!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Michael Brandt!
The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Illya Tyunina and Sergei Dronov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Veron drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Veron tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Brandt is trying to control Veron's posture but Veron avoids it.
Brandt is looking for a sweep.
Brandt is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Veron's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Veron looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Brandt with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Veron working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Brandt doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Brandt manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Veron has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Brandt accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Veron is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Brandt's half guard.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Veron, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
