Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Tapani Kangas (ranked 2849 p4p, 3413 weight class) and Khabib Mebab (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mebab has chosen Some as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 20 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tapani Kangas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Khabib Mebab!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Cecil Peabody and Alan Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mebab misses with a series of wild punches.
Mebab takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Mebab moves to clinch but Kangas breaks away
and Kangas connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Kangas lunges at Mebab with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Mebab's hand.
Kangas has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Mebab pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
A quick step to the side and Kangas tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
Kangas throws the left hand but Mebab avoids the punch easily.
Kangas scores with a jab to the body.
Mebab tries to clinch up
and Kangas counters with a straight right hand.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mebab misses with a takedown attempt
and Kangas counters with a good low kick that Mebab was not able to check.
Kangas looks to land a right hand but Mebab moved out of range.
Kangas swats away the attempt to clinch by Mebab.

Kangas leaves Mebab with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Kangas connects with a high kick.
Nice jab there from Kangas.
Mebab looks to land a combination but Kangas avoids it well.
Mebab tries to clinch but Kangas moves out of range.
Mebab misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Mebab wants to clinch.
Kangas gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Kangas swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Mebab tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.

and Mebab counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Mebab forces Kangas back against the cage and clinches.
Kangas is pressed up against the cage. Mebab has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Kangas down to the mat. Kangas avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Tapani Kangas has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Khabib Mebab.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Kangas bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Mebab's head.
Mebab tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Kangas counters with a nice uppercut.
Kangas misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Mebab.
Khabib Mebab seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mebab has taken the fight to the clinch.
Mebab has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Kangas after a bit of a struggle.
Kangas breaks the clinch.
Kangas lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Kangas.
Kangas misses with a two punch combination.
Mebab misses with a left hand
and Kangas counters with a left to the body.
Kangas is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.
Kangas wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Mebab tries to bum rush Kangas with a series of wild strikes but Kangas uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Kangas lands a jab to Mebab's midsection.
Tapani Kangas is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Kangas lets loose with a powerful body kick. Mebab will feel that in the morning.
Kangas circles away from the clinch attempt.

A jab from Kangas does it's job there.
Kangas punishes Mebab's body with a nice straight punch.
Kangas scores with a jab. Mebab acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Mebab takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Kangas gets a clinch.
Mebab tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Kangas just stands there and leans against the cage.
Mebab is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Kangas gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Kangas lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Mebab tries to pull guard but Kangas holds him up against the cage and eventually Mebab drops back down to his feet.

Kangas unloads with a big right hand that wobbles Mebab! He's leaning against the cage trying to keep his feet but Kangas is unloading with more strikes now! Mebab drops to his knees and the referee stops the fight for a TKO!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:49 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Tapani Kangas!
