Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Merab Murkovitch (ranked 3590 p4p, 4134 weight class) and Conor McGregor (ranked 0 p4p, 214 weight class). Merab Murkovitch has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Merab Murkovitch!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Conor McGregor!
The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Konstantin Menshow and Fedor Mirinova.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

McGregor takes the fight into the clinch.
Murkovitch fails to pull the fight into his guard.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Merab Murkovitch. That's going to take a lot out of him.
McGregor is pressed up against the cage. Murkovitch has hold of a leg and is looking to drag McGregor down to the mat. McGregor avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Murkovitch stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Murkovitch wants it to stay on the feet.

McGregor shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Murkovitch but Murkovitch pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Murkovitch drops down looking for a counter takedown but McGregor sprawls and moves away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

McGregor has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Murkovitch uses from the top position.

McGregor really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Murkovitch. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

McGregor is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Murkovitch scores with a couple of nice shots.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Murkovitch prevents McGregor from improving his position.
Murkovitch takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Murkovitch wants to work for an arm triangle but McGregor is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
McGregor scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Murkovitch manages to mount him!
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

McGregor has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Murkovitch uses from the top position.

Murkovitch's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

McGregor has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Murkovitch can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Murkovitch might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
McGregor can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Murkovitch controls the pace.

Murkovitch passes easily into side control. Nice work.
McGregor tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.

Murkovitch has both hooks in and is working for a choke. McGregor is in real trouble here. Murkovitch gets an arm under the chin and tightens the submission attempt... is this the end? Yes, McGregor is tapping out! Murkovitch wins by rear naked choke!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:53 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Merab Murkovitch!
After the fight, Merab Murkovitch was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
