PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mario Benedetti (ranked 2101 p4p, 24159 weight class) and FrankFurt Livingstone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 49 - 13 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mario Benedetti!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 41 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, FrankFurt Livingstone!
The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Felipe Paraventi and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Benedetti feints a jab promting Livingstone to slip. Benedetti then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Livingstone slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

and Benedetti holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Benedetti gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Livingstone is wriggling around but Benedetti manages to pass to half guard.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Benedetti missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

Benedetti is looking for a kimura here.
Benedetti has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Livingstone tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Benedetti manages to move to mount!
This has been an exciting period of action!

Livingstone really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Benedetti. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Livingstone is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.

Benedetti wants to finish this one by submission but Livingstone is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Benedetti.

Benedetti is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Livingstone has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.

Livingstone has his hands over his head blocking the strikes from Benedetti.

Benedetti has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Livingstone has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
Benedetti somehow managing to miss with a strike from the back.
Benedetti just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.
Livingstone is trying to get back to his feet but Benedetti has full control of the position and if anything, Livingstone has just worked his way into a worse spot.

Livingstone gets caught flat footed, as Benedetti shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Benedetti not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Benedetti decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Livingstone tries to close the distance and clinch but Benedetti swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Benedetti rushes Livingstone and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Livingstone has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Benedetti jumps guard and drags Livingstone to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Benedetti pulls Livingstone in close to prevent any damage.

Benedetti has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Livingstone has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.

Benedetti is pushing Livingstone up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Benedetti keeps control of Livingstone as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Livingstone is fighting off a takedown attempt but Benedetti is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Livingstone to the mat. Livingstone regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Benedetti takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

and Benedetti counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Livingstone swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Benedetti uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Livingstone.

Benedetti looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

Benedetti drives through and clinches with Livingstone against the cage.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Livingstone tries to circle away but Benedetti has him pinned against the cage.

Benedetti has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Benedetti lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.


Livingstone is working an open guard so Benedetti takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Benedetti closes the distance and clinches.
Livingstone is trying to break the clinch but Benedetti is controlling him.
Livingstone wants to break free but Benedetti has control.
A frustrated look appears on Livingstone's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Benedetti breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Benedetti is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Livingstone can do to turn this around?

FrankFurt Livingstone is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Livingstone tries to close the distance and clinch up but Benedetti swats him away and circles back towards the center.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

and Benedetti counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Benedetti.

Livingstone has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Benedetti is proving hard to escape from.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Benedetti is adopting a defensive guard.
Benedetti has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Benedetti throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Benedetti bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Livingstone's guard.

FrankFurt Livingstone has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Livingstone is working an open guard so Benedetti takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Mario Benedetti is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Livingstone fails with an attempt to clinch.
Livingstone throws an off balance right hand
and Benedetti connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Benedetti closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Well Benedetti has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
