Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Magtanggol Tiquia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Damian Son (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tiquia's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, i stand alone. Son has chosen Stranglehold as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tiquia is looking to clinch but Son is avoiding it.

Tiquia closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Tiquia lands in his opponent's guard.
Son is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Tiquia is looking to improve his position.

Tiquia had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Son is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Tiquia Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Son's back instead.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Tiquia just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.
Son grimaces as he takes a shot to the body.

Son stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Tiquia swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Tiquia is looking to stand up but Son isn't so interested in that idea.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Tiquia fails to land the takedown.

Son feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Tiquia is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Son passes Tiquia's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Tiquia is looking to control Son's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Tiquia avoid being mounted?

Tiquia is in all sorts of trouble here.
Son can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Tiquia is looking to escape.
Tiquia holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Son tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Son wants to finish this one by submission but Tiquia is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Son.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Son is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Tiquia has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Tiquia!

Son thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Damian Son showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
