Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between BJ Penn (ranked 2570 p4p, 3074 weight class) and Eli Hancock (ranked 242 p4p, 283 weight class). Penn's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Hawaii '78. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, BJ Penn! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Eli Hancock! The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Chris Edwards and James Ackerman.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Penn defending well as Hancock loads up on a big left hand. Hancock fails with an attempt to clinch.
Nice straight punches there by Penn. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Penn. Penn circles away from the clinch attempt.
A slow jab from Penn misses its intended target. Hancock is looking to clinch. Hancock's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Hancock duly obliges.
It looks like BJ Penn has been cut. Hancock tries to clinch but Penn moves out of range. Hancock lands a head shot. Penn scores with a jab. Hancock displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Penn throws out the jab. Penn avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Hancock tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Penn manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Decent striking displayed by Penn there. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Hancock is looking to clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hancock on the wrong end of a nice jab. Hancock is looking to clinch but Penn is avoiding it.
A punch lands to the side of Penn 's head but he takes it in his stride. Sloppy strikes from Hancock. Those never looked like landing. Penn was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger. Hancock tries to clinch up. Hancock tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Penn manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. A jab from Penn misses. Penn throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Hancock sees it coming and avoids it easily. Hancock cracks Penn with a right hand to the side of the head. Hancock tries to close the distance and clinch up but Penn swats him away and circles back towards the center. Hancock tries to clinch there but Penn circles away.
Hancock is looking to clinch but Penn is avoiding it.
Penn feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Penn stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hancock swivels though and keeps the full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hancock can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Penn controls the pace. Penn drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Hancock dives on top into guard. Hancock trying to control the position from guard on top but Penn is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Hancock looking to pass the guard. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Penn holds on and takes a little breather. That's three minutes gone in the round. Penn striking off his back but it's not causing Hancock any problems. Hancock trying to stand up but can't free himself from Penn's guard. Penn looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Penn lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. Penn slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Penn wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Hancock, who protects the arm well. Penn tries to advance to mount but Hancock denies him.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Penn tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Penn has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Penn is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Hancock looks calm but he's in trouble here. Penn gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Hancock is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Penn lets go of the hold and Hancock can pop his arm back in it's socket.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:29 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). BJ Penn! A relieved looking BJ Penn thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
