Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Gavyn Mcintyre (ranked 24302 p4p, 25238 weight class) and Kelvin Armstrong (ranked 489 p4p, 474 weight class). Kelvin Armstrong has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Gavyn Mcintyre's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 8 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gavyn Mcintyre! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Kelvin Armstrong! The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Dean Styles and David Schapiro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mcintyre shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Armstrong tries to get to full guard but Mcintyre has control of the leg. Armstrong is looking to get back to full guard here but Mcintyre has managed to pass to side control instead. Armstrong is trying to improve his position. Mcintyre tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Mcintyre has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Armstrong wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Armstrong tries to get back to half guard but can't. Mcintyre tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Armstrong is trying to control Mcintyre's posture but Mcintyre avoids it. Armstrong is looking to regain half guard here but Mcintyre keeps moving and retains side control. Mcintyre tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Mcintyre has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Mcintyre looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Armstrong feints and as Mcintyre raises his hands in defense, Armstrong changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Our spies down at at Special Ops N7 Training inform us that Armstrong has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off? Mcintyre loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Mcintyre connects with a couple of short punches. Mcintyre tries to free his leg and advance position but Armstrong is retaining full guard. Armstrong is trying to control the position from the bottom.
