PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Donovan Shaw (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Isaac Brown (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brown has chosen Let the Bodies Hit the Floor as his entrance music. Donovan Shaw had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Donovan Shaw!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Isaac Brown!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Dillan Fox and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brown tries to clinch up.
Shaw looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Shaw shoots in for a takedown but Brown shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Brown closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Shaw did well to prevent Brown getting side control.

Shaw won't allow Brown to pass to mount.
Brown is taking a breather. Shaw says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Brown stands up and beckons Shaw to join him on the feet.

Brown cracks Shaw with a big right hand but Shaw just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

Brown tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Brown has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Brown wants to pass the guard but Shaw is keeping the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Shaw really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Brown drives through and clinches with Shaw against the cage.
Brown throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Brown tries to circle away but Shaw has him pinned against the cage.

Isaac Brown showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Brown takes the fight into the clinch.

Brown gets control of Shaw's arms and successfully pulls guard. Brown will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Brown had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Shaw is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Brown Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Shaw's back instead.

Brown is trying to stick to Shaw's back but Shaw is turning into Brown. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Brown's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Shaw.

Brown is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Brown fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Shaw sprawls well initially but Brown persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Isaac Brown comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Brown has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
