Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Kodiyak Redd (ranked 1802 p4p, 2006 weight class) and Shu Fang Tzeng (ranked 130 p4p, 140 weight class). Tzeng has chosen Mantra Chant as his entrance music. Shu Fang Tzeng has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 24 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kodiyak Redd! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 38 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Shu Fang Tzeng! The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, John Kavanagh and Reed Andrews.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Tzeng takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Redd slaps away a takedown attempt from Tzeng, before circling back to the center of the mat. As Tzeng backs away, Redd returns fire with a leg kick that just misses. Tzeng pushes Redd up against the cage in a clinch. Tzeng tries a body shot but Redd blocks it.
Tzeng tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Redd's elbow. Tzeng gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Redd.
Redd gets a nice trip takedown into half guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Redd is trying to control. Tzeng wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Redd looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Tzeng has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Redd is working away from the top position though.
That's one minute gone in the round. Tzeng actively working from the bottom here. Redd looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Tzeng trying to hold on to Redd's head to control him but Redd postures up.
Tzeng is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Redd's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Redd's back! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Redd tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell! Redd gets back to half guard. Tzeng looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Tzeng tries to free his leg and advance position but Redd is retaining full guard. Tzeng has gone for a leg lock! Redd slips out almost immediately though and dives into Tzeng's guard. Redd pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Tzeng is keeping the position for now. Redd lands a couple of digs. Tzeng had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Redd defends it easily. Tzeng looking for a guillotine here but Redd defends easily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Redd works a leg free and moves into half guard. Tzeng actively working from the bottom here. Redd working Tzeng over with strikes. Redd passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Tzeng! Tzeng is in a horrible position here. Redd smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Redd connects with a couple of good shots from mount.

Kodiyak Redd dominated that round. That's time! Redd's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Redd just misses with a punch to the body.
Tzeng shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Tzeng showed some decent athleticism there. Tzeng is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Redd defends it well. Redd makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Redd. Redd is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Tzeng can do to turn this around? Redd lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Redd slips a nice elbow through Tzeng's hands, connecting with Tzeng's forehead. Redd wants to pass the guard but Tzeng is defending well. Tzeng looking for submissions off his back. Redd trying to mount his opponent but Tzeng defends it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Tzeng actively working from the bottom here. Redd wants to take a breather but Tzeng is having none of it. Tzeng actively working from the bottom here. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Tzeng wants to get back to full guard. Tzeng won't allow Redd to pass to mount. Redd works his foot free and advances to mount. Redd lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Redd looking to control but Tzeng is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Tzeng is looking to get to half guard. Redd has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Tzeng's face.
Tzeng tries to hold on but Redd pushes him away. Redd looking to finish Tzeng with some ground and pound. This is bad for Tzeng! Tzeng is desperately trying to improve his position but Redd has a good base and remains in mount.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Redd jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Tzeng manages to avoid the submission attempt. Redd working away. Redd wants to control but Tzeng is keeping him busy. Tzeng is looking to reverse the position. Tzeng is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Redd off and has taken his back! Tzeng working for a choke but Redd is defending well. Redd wants to escape the position.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Kodiyak Redd dominated that second round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. And we move into the final round! Tzeng has a takedown stuffed. Kodiyak Redd is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Tzeng shoots in but Redd avoids the takedown attempt easily. A counter left hand to the body from Redd misses its target. Tzeng shoots for a takedown but Redd saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. It looked like Redd was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Tzeng. Kodiyak Redd has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Shu Fang Tzeng. Tzeng walks into a left hand. Tzeng darts in looking for a takedown but Redd gets double underhooks and turns Tzeng into the cage. Tzeng sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs. Shu Fang Tzeng seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Tzeng fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Redd to the ground. Tzeng is now in Redd's guard. Redd keeping full guard, as Tzeng tries to pass. Redd trying to control the position here.
That's one minute gone in the round. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Redd is on top in guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Redd stays in close to Tzeng's body and controls the position. Tzeng keeping full guard, as Redd tries to pass. Redd is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Tzeng keeping moving, preventing Redd from controlling successfully. Redd is looking to pass into half guard but Tzeng pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Tzeng is in guard.
Tzeng drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Tzeng jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Tzeng stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Redd swivels though and keeps the full guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Tzeng has gone for a leg lock! Redd slips out almost immediately though and dives into Tzeng's guard. Tzeng wants to sweep here but Redd controlling him for the moment. Shu Fang Tzeng has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Redd is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Redd wants to pass the guard but Tzeng is keeping the position. Redd is working hard here to advance position. Redd stands and throws Tzeng's legs to the side, diving into side control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Tzeng wants to control but Redd postures up. Redd cracks Tzeng with an elbow. That is naaassty. Redd working the ground and pound. Tzeng can't do much from the bottom here. Redd happy to just control the position for now. Redd lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Tzeng down.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Redd is trying to get an arm triangle but Tzeng is defending well. Redd has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Tzeng is looking to reverse the position.
And that's the end of the fight! Kodiyak Redd showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Redd, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
