Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Freddy Orshawl (ranked 4909 p4p, 4712 weight class) and Nick Mcdonald (ranked 404 p4p, 396 weight class). Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Freddy Orshawl!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nick Mcdonald!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Chris Edwards and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Orshawl clinches up with Mcdonald and pushes him back against the cage.

Orshawl pulls Mcdonald into guard.

Orshawl looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mcdonald is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Mcdonald is working Orshawl over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Mcdonald slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Mcdonald has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Mcdonald lands a nice short elbow.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Mcdonald perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Mcdonald looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Orshawl with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Mcdonald seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Mcdonald is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Orshawl has managed to free his arm - good work.
Mcdonald content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Orshawl is trying to get back to full guard.

Mcdonald performing his best blanket impression for a moment.

That's time! Orshawl's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Orshawl goes for a double leg but Mcdonald avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Mcdonald continues to drive forward.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Freddy Orshawl. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Orshawl has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Mcdonald clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Mcdonald manages to reverse the position and now he's in Orshawl's guard. Nice work there by Mcdonald.
Mcdonald is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Orshawl really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Orshawl fails to land the takedown.
Mcdonald drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Orshawl defends it well.

Mcdonald changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Orshawl looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Mcdonald controls the position.

Mcdonald is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Orshawl knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Orshawl tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Mcdonald in side control, just content to control the action for now.
Orshawl is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Mcdonald is thwarting Orshawl's attempts to control the position.

Mcdonald is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Orshawl sees it coming and defends easily.
Still in half guard, Mcdonald seems content to control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mcdonald landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Mcdonald is trying to work for a kimura but Orshawl is defending well.
Mcdonald seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Mcdonald has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Nick Mcdonald showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

Orshawl misses with a takedown

and Mcdonald counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Orshawl!

Mcdonald tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Mcdonald has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Mcdonald works to advance to full mount. Orshawl defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

Mcdonald looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Orshawl is bucking up trying to escape but Mcdonald cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

Orshawl has given up his back - I don’t know if this is a deliberate ploy to try and escape or if he is just struggling down there.

Mcdonald working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet.

Orshawl is in a bad position with Mcdonald working for a choke. Orshawl manages to spin nicely into guard and the danger is over for the moment.

Mcdonald is looking to cinch up a triangle. Orshawl throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Mcdonald's body to avoid the submission. Mcdonald has instead reached around Orshawl's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Mcdonald arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:28 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Nick Mcdonald!
