Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Maki Homma (ranked 4686 p4p, 25100 weight class) and Shaun Wallace (ranked 468 p4p, 512 weight class). Shaun Wallace will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Maki Homma! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Shaun Wallace! The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Stewart Dunkirk and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wallace looks to throw the jab but Homma is out of range. Wallace takes a swing at Homma's ribcage but misses. Homma circles away from the clinch attempt.

Wallace throws a lazy right hand but Homma sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. A left lands for Wallace. Homma slips under a jab from Wallace. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Homma defending well as Wallace loads up on a big left hand. Homma tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Wallace manages to circle out of the way. Homma takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. Wallace tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Homma is looking to counter the offense by Wallace and move into the clinch. Homma looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wallace lands a jab. Shaun Wallace seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Wallace misses with a looping right. Homma seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance. Wallace throws a looping overhand right but Homma ducks down to avoid it. Homma tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Wallace manages to circle out of the way. Wallace is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range. Wallace misses with an uppercut. Homma saw that one coming. Homma is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Wallace. Homma takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Homma tries to pull guard but Wallace forces him back to his feet, against the cage. Homma blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Wallace throws a head punch that misses. Homma gets a nice trip takedown into half guard. Wallace tries to kick Homma off in order to stand up. Homma Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Wallace can do anything to dispel that myth. Homma looks up at the clock and then as Wallace takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Homma smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
