Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Usaa Mera (ranked 25203 p4p, 5277 weight class) and Gini Wijnaldum (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Usaa Mera! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Gini Wijnaldum! The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Wagner Zegers and Patrick Alders.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mera shoots in but Wijnaldum avoids the takedown attempt easily. Wijnaldum is looking for the big counter here. Mera takes a body punch but keeps moving. Mera gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Wijnaldum fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Mera manages to avoid it. Wijnaldum digs a good hook to Mera's body.
Mera shoots in but doesn't get the takedown enabling Wijnaldum to counter with a crisp jab. A combination from Wijnaldum does no damage. Wijnaldum cracks Mera with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage. Mera shoots and misses and Wijnaldum counters with a straight punch to the midsection. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Usaa Mera. That's going to take a lot out of him. Mera tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Wijnaldum defends well and Mera ends up having to push Wijnaldum into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Wijnaldum tries to circle away but Mera has him pinned against the cage. A frustrated look appears on Wijnaldum's face as he tries to break the clinch. Wijnaldum wants to stall.
Mera has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Wijnaldum uses from the top position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mera keeping moving, preventing Wijnaldum from controlling successfully. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Wijnaldum accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Wijnaldum must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Wijnaldum stands over his opponent and dives in with a flying punch! Mera throws up his legs and catches Wijnaldum in a triangle! Oh this looks tight! Wijnaldum tries to escape but he's forced to tap! Wow, fantastic work there by Mera! That came out of nowhere!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:36 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Usaa Mera!
