PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Gakus Amiga (ranked 23326 p4p, 23083 weight class) and Clifford Val Salvacion (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 48 - 66 - 7, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gakus Amiga!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 33 - 85 - 6, fighting out of Las Vegas, Clifford Val Salvacion!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Cecil Peabody and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Salvacion gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Amiga counters with a nice double leg into side control. Salvacion won't be happy with that.
Amiga slows the pace down.
Salvacion is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Amiga off and has taken his back!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Salvacion is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.

Amiga trying to control the hands but Salvacion won't let him.
Amiga tries to escape but Salvacion has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
Amiga trying to control the action but Salvacion just sinks the hooks in.
Amiga covering up well under a series of strikes from Salvacion.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Amiga is trying to remain composed but Salvacion is hammering down strikes to the side of his head.
Salvacion has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Amiga's body.
Amiga trying to control the hands but Salvacion breaks the grip.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Salvacion has good solid back control here.
Salvacion's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Let's hope that Salvacion has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Clifford Val Salvacion dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Salvacion keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Amiga tries to sprawl but Salvacion drives through with a takedown into half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Salvacion stalling.

Salvacion throwing shots but Amiga is blocking nicely.
Amiga trying to control but Salvacion postures up.
Salvacion is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Salvacion thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Amiga's head.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.

Amiga throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Salvacion tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Amiga is in Salvacion's guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Salvacion is pulling down on Amiga's head to control his posture.
Amiga is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Amiga trying to control the position from guard on top but Salvacion is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Salvacion is trying to control the position from the bottom.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Amiga sitting in guard, not really doing much.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Amiga shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Salvacion but Salvacion pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Salvacion replies with a solid counter kick to the body but Amiga blocks it well.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Gakus Amiga will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! And we move into the final round!

Salvacion shoots in for a takedown but Amiga shows good takedown defense.
Amiga is looking to counter with a body kick.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Amiga.
Salvacion follows through with a counter body kick but it doesn't land.
Amiga changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Salvacion tries to avoid it but Amiga manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Salvacion to the ground. Salvacion escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Salvacion stuffs the takedown.
Salvacion follows through with a counter body kick but it doesn't land.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Gakus Amiga. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Salvacion shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Amiga's guard.
Salvacion slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Amiga wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Amiga continues to stall.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Salvacion not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
We're seeing a lot of stalling here from Salvacion.

Amiga is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Salvacion is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Salvacion is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Amiga's half guard.

Salvacion passes into side control, despite Amiga's attempt to control the position.

Clifford Val Salvacion comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Salvacion has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
