PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Arkadiy Hammerov (ranked 3333 p4p, 5257 weight class) and The Loser (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hammerov kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Bananza (Belly Dancer). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Arkadiy Hammerov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, The Loser!
The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Matheus Silva and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hammerov feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Hammerov advances to half guard.
Hammerov throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Hammerov wants to free his trapped foot but Loser is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Loser is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Hammerov looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Hammerov content to control rather than advance.

Hammerov lands with a punch from half guard.
Loser manages to get to full guard.
Hammerov stands and throws Loser's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Hammerov tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Hammerov has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Hammerov stands up.

Hammerov misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Loser.
Hammerov fails to land with a series of punches.
Loser fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Hammerov scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hammerov laying and praying for a moment but Loser takes advantage and regains half guard.
Loser wants to control but Hammerov is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Hammerov trying to mount his opponent but Loser defends it.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Loser regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Hammerov.
Hammerov working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Loser's head.

Hammerov has gone for a leg lock! Loser slips out almost immediately though and dives into Hammerov's guard.

Loser must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Loser missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Hammerov manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Loser manages to get himself to full guard.

Loser has a closed guard, preventing Hammerov from standing up.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Loser looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Hammerov is fending him off so far but Loser persists. Nope, Hammerov circles away and we're back to standing.
Hammerov attempts a counter takedown but Loser avoids it well and moves away.
That kick from Hammerov tenderised Loser's leg. Loser is trying to keep his angry face on.

A right-left combo lands from Loser.
Loser lands with a nice combination. Hammerov backs away looking to recover.

Hammerov closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Hammerov misses with an elbow over the top.
Loser is trying to push Hammerov away but Hammerov has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Loser tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Hammerov looking for a takedown.
Hammerov fails to land with a short punch on the inside.

A head punch blocked on the inside by Loser.
Hammerov tries to work over Loser's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Hammerov tries to pull guard but Loser forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Hammerov successfully pulls guard.
Loser trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Hammerov is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Hammerov has his hands on Loser's head, controlling the position.

Hammerov looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Hammerov trying to keep a closed guard but Loser is proving a slippery customer.

Loser is looking to advance position but Hammerov has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

Hammerov sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Hammerov looking to finish Loser with some ground and pound. This is bad for Loser!
Loser is trying desperately to improve position.

Hammerov working for a guillotine from mount but Loser is in no mood to give up.
Hammerov lands a couple of good shots and Loser has given up his back, trying to escape the position!

Loser defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Hammerov's arms.

Hammerov is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Loser pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Hammerov is keeping the position for now.
Hammerov controlling the position.
Loser controlling from the top position.
Hammerov looking to hit a scissor sweep but Loser is one step ahead there.

Loser is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Hammerov has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Loser is looking to defend but Hammerov has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Loser! Hammerov pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Loser taps out and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Arkadiy Hammerov!
Arkadiy Hammerov decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
