Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Taki Nakagami (ranked 3807 p4p, 5065 weight class) and Merab Reaper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Merab Reaper has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Taki Nakagami!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Merab Reaper!
The judges for this bout are Francis DeMontford, Ron Honeybunn and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Reaper wants to clinch up but Nakagami keeps it at a distance.
Nakagami changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Nakagami fails to land the takedown.
Reaper stuffs the takedown attempt from Nakagami. Nakagami gets slowly back to his feet.

Nakagami shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Reaper throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Nakagami closes the distance and pushes Reaper back into the cage.

Nakagami is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Reaper defends well.
Nakagami is pulling down on Reaper's head. It's preventing any offense from Reaper, at least for the moment.

Reaper thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Nakagami pulls Reaper in close to prevent any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Nakagami bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Reaper's guard.

Nakagami stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Reaper swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Reaper dives in and grabs Nakagami's left leg, looking for a takedown. Nakagami pushes down on Reaper's head and hops out.

Reaper is trying to break the clinch but Nakagami is controlling him.
Reaper jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Nakagami walks away with a smile on his face. Reaper gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Reaper sneaks back into half guard.

Reaper is breathing heavily.
Nakagami darts in looking for a takedown but Reaper gets double underhooks and turns Nakagami into the cage.

Nakagami had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Reaper defends it easily.
Nakagami is pulling down on Reaper's head to control his posture.
Reaper wants to get up but he can't break Nakagami's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Nakagami has an active guard here but Reaper has managed to pass into half guard.

Reaper passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Nakagami!
Nakagami is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Reaper throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Nakagami wants to control but Reaper is having none of it.

Nakagami misses with a takedown attempt - Reaper sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Nakagami is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Reaper can do to turn this around?

Reaper has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Nakagami avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Reaper has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Nakagami is proving hard to escape from.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Nakagami leaves Reaper with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Nakagami misses with a body kick.

Nakagami has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Nakagami has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Reaper is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Reaper is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Nakagami is defending well.
Nakagami is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.
