PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Wayne Stone (ranked 2664 p4p, 2933 weight class) and Toad Hopper (ranked 169 p4p, 185 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Toad Hopper was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Wayne Stone!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Toad Hopper!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Sam Margolis and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hopper drives through with a takedown into Stone's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Stone looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Hopper is stalling in the full guard.

Stone working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Hopper doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Hopper manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Hopper sitting in guard, not really doing much.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hopper stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Stone swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Hopper is in close to Stone's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Stone is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Hopper defends well.

Stone working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Hopper doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Hopper manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Stone is looking for a triangle but Hopper pushes his legs off easily.

Stone trying to hold on to Hopper's head to control him but Hopper postures up.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Hopper is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Well, if Hopper is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza Yum. Can't wait.
Hopper throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Hopper looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Stone with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Hopper lands with a punch from half guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Hopper seems to be looking for submissions.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Stone is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Hopper pulls his head out easily.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Stone shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Hopper lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Hopper working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Stone taking some punishment here, with Hopper in his half guard.

Stone on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.

Hopper is keen to just control but Stone is a slippery customer.
Hopper working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Hopper looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Hopper is just content to waste time from the top position. Stone takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Stone wants to sweep but no luck.
Hopper advances position into side control!
Hopper lands an elbow.

Stone is not content to let Hopper control the position.
Hopper has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
You can see the frustration on Stone's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Stone tries to buck Hopper off but Hopper is having none of it.
Stone is being controlled here.
Stone is not content to let Hopper control the position.
Hopper just content to control the position.
Stone is working to avoid the ground and pound but Hopper connects with a decent elbow.
Hopper trying to control the action but Stone is working from the bottom.
Stone tries to improve position but can't.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Stone is working hard here to advance position.
Hopper wants to lay and pray for a moment but Stone keeps working.
Hopper is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Hopper scores with a couple of short elbows.

Hopper wants to control but Stone is keeping him busy.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Toad Hopper showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Stone is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Stone has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Hopper can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Stone had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Hopper defends it easily.
Hopper wants to control from the top but Stone keeps moving.

Stone is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Hopper is aware though and is defending well.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Hopper with a nice head shot there.
Hopper postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Hopper with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

Hopper looking to sit in guard and control but Stone gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Stone sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Hopper's guard.
Hopper moves into full guard.
Hopper bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Stone's guard.

Hopper working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Hopper avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Hopper trying to control but Stone is working from the bottom.

Stone throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Toad Hopper is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Toad Hopper comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Hopper has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
