This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the super heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Los Angeles, with a TWGC record of 2 wins and 0 losses; Nedser Kiely! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 1 wins and 2 losses; Ethan Bear! The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Anthony Taglia and David Schapiro.
The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way. Kiely gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Kiely gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Bear regains guard.
Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Kiely (2) vs (0) Bear Bear has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at HELLCADEMY. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one. Kiely controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Kiely is looking to advance position but Bear has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount! Score +4 for clean sweep to past guard: Kiely (2) vs (4) Bear Kiely gets back to half guard. Bear trying to control from half guard but Kiely is working away. Kiely makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Kiely. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Kiely is on top in guard.

That's one minute gone in the round. Kiely has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Kiely advances position into side control! Score +3 for passing guard: Kiely (7) vs (4) Bear Kiely tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Kiely has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Kiely controls the position. Kiely is trying to get an arm triangle but Bear is defending well. A lull in the action here. Kiely working away.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kiely staying calm. Kiely continues to stall. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kiely working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Bear is being controlled here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Kiely has hold of Bear's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Bear tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Kiely cranks the arm and Bear screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Bear, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:39 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Nedser Kiely! A relieved looking Nedser Kiely thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it. |
