Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Viktor Mertel Jr (ranked 4999 p4p, 4921 weight class) and Lane White (ranked 465 p4p, 460 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Roger Salmon and Colin Fray.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
White sizes up Mertel Jr with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
White swings for the body but Mertel Jr moves out of range.
Mertel Jr stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
White misses with a right hand
and Mertel Jr cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
We've been told by Mertel Jr's head coaches at RETARDATION CLINIC that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
White lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
White fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.

White fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Mertel Jr looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Lane White seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Mertel Jr counters with a stiff right hand.
Mertel Jr is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
