Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Del Salar (ranked 611 p4p, 2362 weight class) and Jarko Soumalainen (ranked 74 p4p, 258 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jarko Soumalainen!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Yuuki Gou and Kenichi Hosakawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Salar throws a hook to the side of Soumalainen's head but Soumalainen sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

and Salar connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
It looks like Jarko Soumalainen has been cut.
Soumalainen bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Soumalainen has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

It looked like Salar was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Soumalainen.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Salar cracks Soumalainen with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Soumalainen looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Salar finish him?

A low kick from Soumalainen is predictable there
and Salar counters with a huge overhand right that connects right on the temple, sending him crumpling, face first to the floor! This one is all over! What a knockout!

During a confident post fight interview, Del Salar thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
