Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Takanori Gomi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Andy Perkasa!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Kenichi Hosakawa and Shigeki Fujiwara.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Perkasa misses with a two punch combination.
Perkasa lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Perkasa with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Gomi to score with a decent uppercut.
Perkasa closes the distance and clinches.
Gomi dodges an elbow strike from Perkasa.
Perkasa using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Gomi has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Our sources have told us that Gomi has been working on his knees in the buildup to the fight.
Gomi tries to break free but Perkasa pushes him back against the ropes.
Perkasa breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Perkasa thows a body kick. Gomi tries to catch it but that hurt him.
Gomi scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Gomi avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Perkasa throws a right hand that Gomi ducks under and follows up with a left that Gomi also avoids with ease.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Perkasa tries a head kick but it misses.
Gomi cracks Perkasa with a good jab.
Perkasa drops his guard momentarily, allowing Gomi to crack him with a picture perfect lead left hook! Boom! Down goes Perkasa! Oh, he's in big trouble - I don't like his chances here as the referee's count reaches 5. 6,7,8,9...10! He's out! Gomi takes it!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:46 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punch). Takanori Gomi!
