PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Otto McBean (ranked 382 p4p, 523 weight class) and Vishis Vourture (ranked 30 p4p, 46 weight class). Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 23 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Otto McBean!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Vishis Vourture!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Chris Downing and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McBean fails with an attempt to clinch.
Vourture misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
It looked like McBean was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Vourture.
Vourture lands a head kick. McBean smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Vourture throws a right and a left that McBean avoids nicely.
A quick step to the side and McBean tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
McBean takes a jab right on the kisser.
Vourture throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
McBean misses with a wild body shot.
Vourture turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Vourture lands with a nice body punch.
Vourture throws a right hand that McBean ducks under and follows up with a left that McBean also avoids with ease.
McBean has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Vourture on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
McBean misses with a double jab
and McBean takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

McBean swings for the body but Vourture moves out of range.
McBean misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Vourture cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
McBean misses with a right hand
and Vourture counters with a nice uppercut.

McBean shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Vourture pushes McBean off looking to stand but McBean dives back in and keeps control.

McBean looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Vourture is trying to stand.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

McBean is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
McBean stops Vourture from getting back to his feet.
McBean wants to pass the guard but Vourture is defending well.
Vourture wants to stand back up but McBean manages to pass into side control.
Vourture is trying to get back to his feet.

McBean thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Vourture is trying to get back to his feet.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Vourture tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.
Vourture wants to get back to his feet.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

McBean is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Vourture defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.

McBean looking for the RNC.
Vourture is trying to get back to his feet but McBean has full control of the position and if anything, Vourture has just worked his way into a worse spot.

Vourture is looking to stand back up. He's having to work hard to escape but eventually he manages it.
Vourture takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
A bone on bone clash there as McBean blocks the leg kick.
Vourture fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Vishis Vourture dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

A big right from McBean misses.
McBean tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Vourture gets caught flat footed, as McBean shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Vourture is looking to stand back up but McBean counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Vourture.

McBean is working for a submission of some sort.
Vourture is trying to stand.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
McBean is trying to control the action in half guard but Vourture is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

McBean is working for a kimura but Vourture is defending it quite comfortably.

Otto McBean overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

McBean wants to work for an arm triangle but Vourture is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Vourture is trying to stand up here but McBean is controlling him well.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
McBean wants to clinch.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Vourture throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and McBean counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Vourture keeps McBean at a distance using the push kick.
McBean closes the distance but Vourture moves to the side
and Vourture counters with a low kick, right behind McBean 's knee.
McBean misses with a body shot.
McBean moves to clinch but Vourture breaks away
and Vourture connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
McBean scores with a shot to the body.
McBean misses with a looping left.

Vourture keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Vourture tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Vourture misses with an uppercut

and McBean counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Vourture!

McBean looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
McBean wants to lay and pray for a moment but Vourture keeps working.
Vourture really doesn't want to stay on the ground with McBean. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Vourture wants to get back to his feet but McBean drags him back down.
Vourture is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

McBean is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Vourture is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Vourture tries to escape but McBean is in control.
Vourture parries the strikes from McBean easily there. McBean is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Vourture to escape.
Vourture bucks up and tries to throw McBean off but instead McBean has got his back!

Vourture is looking to stand back up. He's having to work hard to escape but eventually he manages it.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Vourture shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
McBean appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
McBean misses with a hook
and Vourture counters with a left to the body.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Vourture throws a series of punches but McBean avoids them all with ease.
McBean appears to be looking for a big counter.
McBean connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Vourture throws a low kick, looking for McBean's leg but McBean calmly moves out of range.
McBean tries to counter by clinching up but Vourture breaks away and moves out of range.
Vourture throws out a loose jab but McBean uses good head movement to avoid it.
McBean drops down looking for a counter takedown but Vourture sprawls and moves away.
A combination from Vourture does no damage.

McBean clinches.
Vourture blocks a body shot from McBean.

Vourture breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Nice body kick there by Vourture.
Vishis Vourture seems to be getting the better of the standup.

McBean fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Vourture looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Vishis Vourture is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

and McBean counters with a shoot takedown. Vourture fights it but they end up in guard.
Vourture wants to get back to his feet but McBean passes into half guard.

Vourture has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but McBean is on him like a limpet, forcing Vourture back against the cage.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Vourture.

Vourture throws a series of punches but McBean moves out of range.

and McBean counters with a straight right hand.
McBean shoots in and drives through. Vourture sprawls well.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! McBean crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Vourture - the referee stops the clock and McBean gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Vourture. McBean manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

A looping hook to the body misses from Vourture. McBean does a little dance to reset his feet.

Vourture has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.

McBean throws a hook but Vourture blocks it.
McBean looks to land a left hand but Vourture moved out of range nicely.
Vourture throws a right hand that McBean ducks under and follows up with a left that McBean also avoids with ease.

McBean swings and misses with a shot to the body
and Vourture counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Vishis Vourture is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Vourture.
It looked like McBean wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
McBean throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Vourture misses with a jab, cross combination.
Vourture misses with a combination
and McBean connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Vishis Vourture.
I think Vourture has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
